I was busy at work, tilling my soil one day when I happened upon the most beautiful flower, why it was brilliant orange. For a minute I thought the sun had come down to say 'Hello'. I was beside myself with amazement and joy!

"What could this be?”  I thought out loud to myself, not realizing anyone could hear me.

“Joy to the world”!

Exclaimed the beautiful orange-petaled delight.

“Who have we here? I’ve seen your type roaming about down by my roots, tickling my toes. I’ve tried to get your attention many times, to tell you to knock it off! But nobody ever pops their head up, or tail up, I’m not sure which end is which, or if y'all can even hear. Anyways, my requests never amount to a hill of beans and I spend all day laughing the pollen right off my stamen and can't get any rest.”

“I am Colleen the Calendula flower. (Known for my antiseptic abilities). Healing wounds and easing constipation is the name of my game.”

“Well I’m Herb, but my friends call me Herby”, I said.

“I have a tendency to just burrow randomly through the topsoil which might be the cause of your roots being rubbed.  My deepest apologies Colleen.  I will have to remember to look up more often, what a beautiful sight you are to marvel at.”

“Why thank you, kind sir. I suppose, after all the work you do plowing the soil and allowing air and rain to get to my roots, I can’t be too mad at you. Amazing little creatures you are. Bless your soul”
