"I have crossed the horizon to find you. I know your name." Marley heard the voice, but could not figure out who was talking to her. 

 

The voice was a soft, beautiful, enchanting sound. It brought her a sense of peace and calmness.

 

“Who are you?” she questioned.

 

“Do you know who you are?” The voice asked back.

 

“Sometimes I’m not sure. I've been staring at the edge of the water for as long as I can remember, never really knowing why,” replied Marley.

 

...“I wish I could be the perfect daughter, but I seem to come back to the water, no matter how hard I try.” she continued.

 

She somewhat broke into a rhythmic song, and the words came out…

“Every turn I take, every trail I track,
Every path I make, every road leads back,
To a place I know……..

     ….and I long to be.”

 

The voice was silent for a minute, taking it all in. Then she spoke up with her wisdom, and let Marley know...

“The people you love will change you.
The things you have learned will guide you.
And nothing on earth can silence,
the quiet voice still inside you.”

 

Marley was touched by these words, it almost seemed like she had heard them in a Disney movie, once upon a time.

“They must be authentic to this voice,” she concluded.

 

“I still don’t know who you are.”  She came back to the present, and realized her need to be able to see the voice.

“If I can’t see it, it must not be real,” she pondered.

“Maybe I just make this stuff up in my head.”

 

The voice felt Marley’s uncertainty and decided to give her a hint. 

 

“I come and go with the season.

I head south in the winter,

             so I’m not freeze-en.

 I take some time to hide in my safe place, while I grow.

 The wind tells me where to go.

When I become whom I am meant to be,

  I take flight and follow my destiny.

I am beautiful, bright and flowy.

  And, my name is Zoe.”
