Moss& Mushrooms

After seeing no birds on our "bird watch walk" today, we realized all the "tree mushrooms". So we started looking for cool moss and counting all the mushrooms.

"Bracket Mushrooms"

I have not figured out each individual name or type. But the general term used is Bracket Mushrooms. They grow on trees and look like a shelf, so that is how they got their name.

They use the nutrients from the trees to survive. They have pores instead of gills on the underside that release the spores into the air.

They are full of vitamins and mineral, and boost the immune system. Some also contain Vitamin D, which is rare in foods (that we know of today). They also have antibacterial and antiviral benefits. Pick some up next time you are shopping and make them a regular part of your diet.

{If you are going to pick your own please do your research.}

Bracket mushrooms are also used for sharpening knives instead of leather,
