Oil Of Oregano
Mountain Joy
DIY ~ Home Remedy ~ Science Experiment
Our first summer at this house, Oregano was one of the seed packets picked to start our herb collection. So I was delighted when a friend gave me the low down on
"Oil of Oregano"
and realized I could make my own!
It took a couple tries, but I finally got it right. I found I need to dry the oregano completely, then add oil.
(XV olive, Almond, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Avocado, etc.…)
Place them both in a clean jar and set in sun for several days (you could also use hot water on stove). After this, place in a cool dark place for a month or more, then strain it and store in a dark glass jar away from heat and light.

With it’s antimicrobial, antibacterial and antifungal properties, It can keep colds away, help with gingivitis, earaches and athlete’s foot. Oil of Oregano ESSENTIAL oil can be used in place of harmful antibiotics.
You could also just throw the whole herb in soups and stocks when feeling ill.
such as phenols, triterpenes, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid and oleanolic acid.
This Herb I have found to be very confusing. The one we have growing does not smell like pizza, and the seed packet it long gone. So after trying to research the type we have , Well, I still can’t confidently identify it.
Then there is always the mind over matter part to this that may play a key role.
